Pet Lunatic Tee

The name 'Pet Lunatic' was graciously bestowed upon me by a particularly grumpy woman on Threads. Little did she know I would take that title and run straight into the blazing sun with it.

But what does it mean to be called a lunatic? Well, by today's standards, most would think of it as a derogatory term for someone who lives with a mental illness. However, the word 'lunatic' has deep philosophical roots. The term originates from the Latin word lunaticus, which referred to bouts of "insanity" that aligned with the changing phases of the moon. Feels a bit menstrual-coded, doesn't it? Anyway--as a woman, a Cancer sun, and as someone who lives with anxiety and depression--the title feels quite fitting, honestly. What better for a woman-owned brand than a moniker that reflects the moon, its impacts on the earth, and its astrological affiliations. It's also a fun little way to reclaim the term in spite of its negative connotations, and a cheeky nod to all of the naysayers.
